I had a
powerful dream involving my son and his girlfriend. In the dream, their
apartment caught on fire. Flames often symbolize intense change,
transformation, or emotional transitions, and because the apartment represented
their living space, it felt deeply connected to their current stage of life …
building their future together, stepping further into adulthood, and creating a
life of their own.
Even though
the apartment was burning, something important stood out: everyone made it out
safely. Their dog escaped, I was able to rescue their cat, which appeared
unusually large in the dream, almost emphasizing how important it was that it
be protected. And there was a strong sense that, despite the chaos, life itself
was preserved. When we returned to look at the damage, the Sheriff’s Department
had arrived, their truck parked outside while people carefully looked through
the apartment and assessed what remained. That presence felt symbolic of order
being restored. A reminder that even after disruption, stability returns and
situations are brought back under control.
Not
everything had been destroyed. Some books were still intact, reminding me that
knowledge, memories, and the meaningful chapters of our lives cannot be easily
erased by temporary upheaval. Another detail that stayed with me was seeing
cookie sheets that had survived the fire. Cookie sheets symbolize preparation,
nurturing, and the simple but sacred act of feeding and caring for others.
Seeing them untouched felt symbolic: even when life brings unexpected
disruption, the ability to create warmth, home, and family traditions remains.
His girlfriend was stacking them, organizing what remained, quietly rebuilding…
a powerful image of resilience.
Perhaps the
most touching moment came when a baby appeared in the dream, and I found myself
holding the baby close, keeping it safe. Babies in dreams often represent new
beginnings, future potential, and the continuation of family lines. Holding the
child felt like a reminder that, even as our children grow and create lives of
their own, the nurturing thread that connects generations never disappears. We
still carry love forward.
To me, this
dream did not feel like a warning, but rather a message of reassurance. Life
brings periods of transformation that can feel as intense as fire, yet what
truly matters is love, family bonds, knowledge, and the ability to nurture.
Even when circumstances change, the foundations of home remain, and from those
foundations, new beginnings are always possible.
Sometimes our
dreams remind us that change does not mean loss. Sometimes it simply means the
next chapter is beginning.
