The Burnt Offering

Humans decorate the body- perfume it, pamper it, glorify it.  In all these rituals it still will not deter death.  Death comes like a thief and robs one of his youth.  Its image plagues the mind with irrational fears.  When man's illusion of his body is no longer adorned and worshiped; his soul will rise up from the burnt offering as smoke.  The body is shed like a 'snake skin' with no fear of mortality.

His Gaze

Death reduces all things.  The young become old, the beautiful become ugly, the rich become poor.  Everyone is racing through life not knowing they are all racing towards death.  The beauty of the Beloved never fades, withers, or dies.  His gaze gives eternal life to those whose eyes gaze upon His.  Blessed are the ones that meet His gaze.

This Unsettling Love

This unsettling love unravels my intellect.  My intellect leaps out of my head.  Something new leaps into me wanting to take command.  I give it lordship over the region of my heart.  My hand dictates its ramblings.  What is this thing called love?  Why does it leave me so powerless?  I am at loves mercy.  His hands are clasped around my neck.  I am unable to flee.  I am a hopeless victim.  I am a prisoner inside His imaginings.

A Thousand Suns

Many Traps

The dream world is full of danger.  There are many traps.  There's the traps of man's lust:  his greed, his pride, his vanity.  Then there are the traps of man's heart:  his sufferings, his longings, his passions.
Both are snares and a man's soul will get entangled in both.  The difference is this:  the man who falls in the worldly trap has fallen into his own trap.  The man who has fallen into his heart's trap has fallen into God's trap.  In which trap are you caught in?
